was founded nearly twenty-five years ago by Dr. Raymond Kubisch, an orthodontist practicing in south Seattle, Washington. His goal in forming the group was to provide a way for he and his colleagues to improve their knowledge and skills, and to raise the quality of their dentistry to new levels. Dr. Kubisch understood that the best way to accomplish this would be to develop an ongoing program that would offer access to some of the best speakers and information available in continuing education, so that he and his colleagues could learn together and share their experiences on a regular basis.
It was with this goal in mind that Summit Dental Study Group began in 1985, and it is with this same commitment to quality continuing education that we continue to grow. The future of Summit Dental Study Group is focused on offering a range of programming including evening seminars, full-day lectures, two-day didactic and hands-on courses that bring some of the best educators in the world to you. Summit Dental Study Group has been proud to host such respected and talented leaders as: Dr. John Kois, Dr. Ron Jackson, Dr. Newton Fahl, Dr. Ed McLaren, Dr. Vince Kokich, Dr. David Hornbrook, Dr. William Liebenberg, Dr. Stephen Buchannan, Dr. Paul Belvedere, Dr. Frank Spear, Dr. Didier Dietschi, Dr. Gerard Chiche, Dr. Harry Albers, Dr. Gordon Christensen, Dr. Roger Levin, Dr. John Kanca, Dr. Carl Misch, Dr. Jeff Morley, Dr. Terry Tanaka, Dr. David Garber, Dr. Pascal Magne... the list goes on. Given the advanced level of education provided by these and many other leaders in the field, the dental community has come to rely upon Summit Dental Study Group to bring the most current, up-to-date information available.
Over the years, membership in the Summit Dental Study Group series programs has grown from a handful of dedicated doctors to nearly 100 in each location today. Summit has a Board of Advisors that oversee their overall objectives nationally, and a local Board for each city that runs the membership series programs. The Boards are comprised of dedicated specialists and general dentists. With the addition of their leadership and counsel, Summit is able to tailor the programming to the specific needs of the dental community and also provide additional hands-on and live-patient education opportunities in their local areas. The future growth of Summit is limited only by the desire of dentists to support programs like these.
We are proud to be an AGD and ADA approved provider of continuing education nationally, and partner locally with various chapters of the AGD, AACD, dental societies, and other study clubs in an effort to strengthen our commitment to continuing education regionally. Together, we have been able to produce programs that offer the highest level of education experience available- responding to the wants and needs of the local dental community. This is embodied in the guiding philosophy of Burkhart, the parent company of Summit Dental Study Group, as we continually seek ways in which to enhance the success of the dentists we serve.
